MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT
Your website doesn’t end at launch.
Neither do we.
Most agencies disappear the day the invoice clears. We stick around keeping your site fast, secure, updated, and improving. Month after month. Built into every retainer, not bolted on as an upsell.
Book Your Strategy CallThe dirty secret of web design.
Most “premium WordPress builds” start failing within six months of launch. Plugins go out of date. Security holes open. Page speed drifts. Backups stop working. The agency goes quiet.
You’re left with two bad options: pay them to fix what they should have prevented, or hire someone new to inherit a mess.
We don’t operate that way. Every site we build is paired with a maintenance approach designed for one thing: keeping it as fast, as secure, and as effective in year three as it was on launch day.
This page explains what we actually do. Not “we’ll keep an eye on things” vague,
Concrete, Listed, Accountable.
Boring, technical, essential. Done weekly.
Updates (weekly)
WordPress core, theme, and plugin updates applied on a staging environment first, tested, then pushed to live. Never blindly. Never overnight without checks.
Backups (daily, off-site)
Daily automated backups stored off-server. 30-day retention. Manual backups before any major change. Restore-tested monthly so we know they actually work.
Uptime monitoring (every minute)
Your site is checked from multiple global locations every 60 seconds. If it goes down, we know in under two minutes and we’re already working on it.
Content updates & small edits
Need to change a price? Update an opening hours? Swap a hero image? Add a new team member? Send us the request. We do it within 1-2 business days. Included in maintenance not a surprise invoice for a 5-minute task.
Security monitoring (24/7)
Active malware scanning. Login attempt monitoring. Firewall rule updates. WAF tuning. Suspicious activity flagged and dealt with — usually before you’d notice.
Performance monitoring (continuous)
Page speed tracked over time. Core Web Vitals tracked over time. If anything drifts, a new plugin slows things down, an image isn’t optimised, we catch it and fix it.
Bug fixes (as needed)
Things break. Browsers update. WordPress changes. APIs deprecate. When something on your site stops working as intended, we fix it — included, no extra invoice.
Monthly reports
What we did. What we found. What we changed. What’s coming next month. No padding. No fluff.
We’re honest about scope.
Maintenance keeps your site running. It doesn’t include new features, new pages, or new design work.
That’s development, and it’s billed separately.
Included in maintenance
Updates, security, backups, performance monitoring
Bug fixes for existing functionality
Small text edits and content updates
Restoring from backup if something breaks
Quarterly performance reports
Separate scope (development hours or new project)
New pages
New features (booking, payment, members area, etc.)
Major redesigns
Migrating to a new platform
Major content additions
We’ll tell you upfront which side of the line your request falls on. Always.
The reason we don’t sell maintenance separately.
There’s a category of agency we don’t want to be: the one that builds your site, hands it over with a “good luck”, then waits for you to come back six months later begging them to fix what’s already broken.
We do it differently. Every site we build is paired with a maintenance retainer from day one. Not because we’re upselling because that’s how websites actually stay healthy.
The alternative is what we see every week: clients telling us “I had a site built two years ago, the agency disappeared, and now nothing works.” By the time they reach us, the cost of fixing it is higher than rebuilding it from scratch.
“I’ll just update plugins myself.”
You won’t. Or you will. For the first three weeks. Then a deadline hits, your week gets busy, and updates start sliding.
A year later you’re four major versions behind on WordPress, plugins are conflicting, the contact form has stopped sending, and there’s a malware injection in the footer none of you noticed.
This is the most common scenario we see. Not because clients are lazy, because maintenance is genuinely tedious work that requires knowing what to update, when, and how to roll back if something breaks.
It’s the kind of work that’s cheap when it’s part of someone’s weekly routine. And expensive when it becomes an emergency.
Maintenance bundled with the build means:
The team that wrote your code is the team patching it
Updates happen on infrastructure we control end-to-end
We catch problems early because we’re already monitoring everything
You never get a surprise invoice for “stabilisation work”
Your site stays as fast and as secure in year three as it was on launch day
That’s why our retainers cost what they cost. And why we don’t have a £49/month “maintenance only” plan.
Who It’s For?
Maintenance is right for you if…
You’re commissioning a new website or rebuild with us
You don’t have an in-house developer to manage updates
You’ve been burned before by neglected sites, slow, hacked, or broken
You’d rather pay a flat monthly fee than firefight emergencies
Probably not for you if…
You have a site built by another agency and want us to take over its maintenance. We don’t do that, see below for why
You have a competent in-house dev team handling it already
Your site is a one-page brochure that rarely changes
You enjoy late-night WordPress troubleshooting
Maintenance comes bundled. Not as an upsell.
We don’t sell maintenance as a standalone service. Instead, it’s built into every monthly Website retainer because a website without proper maintenance is a liability, not an asset.

See Website ScaleOne thing we don’t do.
We don’t take on maintenance for sites we didn’t build.
We know that limits us. But here’s the honest reason:
When we maintain a site, we put our reputation on every plugin update, every backup restore, every security patch. We can’t credibly do that on code we’ve never seen, plugins we haven’t vetted, or hosting we don’t control. We’ve seen too many “premium WordPress builds” that were duct-taped together by the previous agency and inheriting that mess hurts both of us.
So if you’re here because your current site is slow, broken, or being neglected by another agency we’d rather rebuild it properly than patch it forever.
That sounds like a bigger investment, but it’s almost always cheaper over 18 months than perpetually firefighting someone else’s bad work.
Quick questions before you book.
Because we’d be charging you for the symptom, not the cure. A site that needs heavy maintenance is usually a site that wasn’t built right in the first place. We’d rather fix the foundation than rent you patches forever.
Then we’re probably not the right fit. And that’s okay. We’d recommend looking at WP Buffs, GoWP, or Maintainn, they’re specialists at standalone WordPress maintenance and they’re good at it.
Not as maintenance, no. But we do rebuilds and migrations regularly. If you’re frustrated with your current site, the honest path forward is usually a clean rebuild on our infrastructure and then maintenance bundled from day one.
Yes. After your minimum commitment, you can move to Watch tier, which is essentially maintenance-only. Many clients do this once their site is stable and they don’t need ongoing dev work.
We’ll restore it from clean backup, identify the entry point, and harden against it happening again. Included in maintenance, not a surprise invoice.
Critical issues (site down, payment broken), same day, usually within hours. Non-critical (small bugs, content tweaks), within 1-2 business days. Faster on Guard and Fortress tiers.
You keep everything. Your site, your hosting credentials, your domain, your content. If you cancel, we hand over a clean site, properly documented. No hostage situations.
We don’t recommend it. The whole point of maintenance is consistency. Pausing it for “a quiet month” usually means the next month becomes an emergency. If budget is tight, downgrade to Watch instead.
